Chenango Peace Action has concentrated on the national Campaign for a New Foreign Policy while participating in local, regional, and national actions.

LOCAL ACTIONS
  • We particpated in the ONEONTA PEACE FESTIVAL in Newhwa Park on Sunday September 12. The festival had several Peace & Justice groups with displays & information, children’s activities like face painting, making peace cranes and bracelets, prayer flags & quilt pictures Entertainment included Lynn Fischer; Reggie Brunson giving MLK’s "I Have a Dream Speech;" Skip West; Storytellers Khuki Woolever & Suzanne Hollist; Jo Mish; Paul Robinson of Veterans for Peace; Emily Nizam Kirsch, Dances of Universal Peace; "The Tuesday Night Jazz Band." The event was co-sponsored by Citizens Alternative Voice (CAV) Oneonta; Delaware County Voices for Peace and ourselves, Peace Action, Chenango County
  • In March, we joined in intense lobbying, including participation in the Global Day of Protest events in New York City on March 20th
  • We've maintained a Peace Action presence in three local activist groups.
  • We organized a public presentation by a compute expert of proposed laws to institute electronic voting machines, specifically inviting local officials.
  • We obtained the MoveOn video "Uncovered: The Truth About the Iraq War" for circulation
  • We have plans for a speaker on the Patriot Act
REGIONAL ACTIONS
  • We promoted Peace Action and the Campaign for a New Foreign Policy in a sponsoring ad for a recent appearance at Binghamton University by Amy Goodman
  • We tabled at two Peace Fairs & one Progressive Fair, obtaining five endorsements and 150 petition signatures for the Campaign for lobbying efforts.
  • We participated as Peace Voter in a peace activist coalition to field and support a progressive candidate in this Council District.
STATE AND NATIONAL
  • Chenango Chair Chris Brunner also represents upstate New York in Peace Action of New York State and works on the National Peace Action Board.
