King Day Anti-War Protest A Success
16 anti-war demonstrators were arrested in front the US Armed Forces
Recruiting Station in Times Square during a January 16th commemoration
of Martin Luther King Junior's birthday. The multi-generational
event featured a peaceful procession and civil disobedience led
by grandparents concerned over the drafting of our youth for war
and called for a peaceful resolution to the Iraqi crisis. Other
participants shared excerpts from Doctor King's impassioned
speeches against militarism. The photograph on the left comes

Lent.
Check Out Our Campus Network

Initiated in 1995, the Student Peace Action Network (SPAN) is a
grassroots peace and justice organization working from campuses
across the United States.
SPAN organizes for an end to physical, social, and economic violence
caused by U.S. militarism at home and abroad.
SPAN campaigns for nuclear abolition, disarmament, an end to weapons
trafficking and opposes the complex webs of corporate and military
power that perpetuate racism, damage the environment, deprive people
of basic needs, and violate human rights.
War is
not inevitable. Push for practical alternatives.
National Day of Action to Prevent the War
Against Iraq
The December 10 protest was a success! 99 protesters, including
Daniel Ellsberg, were arrested in front of the United Nations as
they called for a peaceful resolution to the Iraqi crisis.

Please Welcome Our Newest Chapter
In response to the Bush doctrine of unilateral pre-emptive and
open-ended war, residents of Staten Island organized and formed
our newest chapter, Peace Action of Staten Island. They wasted no
time in organizing several events and corralled several dozen peace
lovin' patriotic Staten Islanders down to massive march for peace
on October 26th in Washington, DC. We're happy to have em on board.
Please
stop by and pay a visit.
