PANYS is the New York State affiliate of Peace Action, the nation's oldest and largest grassroots
peace organization. There are currently a dozen New
York chapters of PANYS,
both upstate and downstate, and more are forming.
We work through a combination of old-fashioned, on the
streets activism as well as through pressuring our elected
officials to vote, in a sane way, against war and the
money for war, against nuclear proliferation and for
policies that will help our world become a safer, more
peaceful place.
As a grassroots organization our local chapters take
a large lead in determining our agenda. Each chapter
works on local peace issues as well as state, national
and global concerns. For more information about chapter

Coalition building is important to us. If we cannot
work together, we will never succeed. This is why PANYS
is dedicated to making alliances and working with other
groups to accomplish our mission.
